Mezco has recently made rather ambiguous statements about a ‘video game license’ and a ‘kids’ book from 20 years ago’ recently, and a leak on the Toy Fair website (intended for industry professionals only) seems to have spilled the proverbial beans. Mezco will be making toys from the PS3 / XBox game ‘Little Big Planet’ and the classic (?) series of kids’ books, Goosebumps. And here I was hoping for The Phantom Tollbooth, or my household favorite, Childcraft Annual.
The user-friendly open-source, creative nature of Little Big Planet should make for some really interesting toys – perhaps some true-to-game customizable figures are in order, Mezco? No news on the figures’ size, material, release date, or even appearance has been released yet, but knowing Mezco, there will probably rock even if you’re in the poor minority like me, and existing without a next gen gaming system.
I can’t imagine what the Goosebumps line might entail, but it’s not the first time that the series had toys made. Also ambiguously listed with Mezco’s Toy Fair listing is a line called ‘Little Ninjas’, again with no information offered – but it’s really not debatable : ninjas are awesome, and their diminutive size only makes them stealthier.
