Vivian Cheng and Eric Jean-Louis (Blend Creations) are married designers who make necklaces. The story goes that one day they were struggling to reconcile their family’s own relative privilege with the fate of children in war-torn countries. Without money, power or the ability to heal the wounded, what can we do? It’s a question I’ve pondered myself as I post about various charity benefits here on ToyCyte. Well, Vivian and Eric asked: “How do I save the world with a really great piece of jewelry or an illustration?” The answer: Metal for Monsters, a jewelry collaboration with S.britt, Stefan G. Bucher, Jon Burgerman, Anna Chambers, Justin Hillgrove, Adam Koford, John Martz, Jay Stephens and Brian Taylor. Each designer supplied Blend Creations with really cool monster art to be made into pendants. The laser-etched, stainless steel pendants will cost $81 and feature an illustration on the front with the artist’s signature and number (out of 100) on the back. For each pendant purchased, $16 will be donated to UNICEF. Stay tuned for details on the launch date.
