Well, I guess it had to happen eventually. Every last toy company ever has given in to the ‘designer toy’ aesthetic. Everyone’s got a cute, chubby, rounded-off form that they’re slappin’ properties into now. Even McFarlane, who we used to be able to reliably turn to for a naked, tattooed chick hanging from hooks from an overcomplicated, ornate apparatus….
Nope. Now, we get Mighty Beanz with legs. Oh, what a world we live in.
The Odd Pods are 4” figures with arms, legs, heads & torsos that pop apart for total interchangeability. The first set is based on the popular Halo video games, and includes Master Chief, a Brute Chieftain, a Spartan EVA Red, and a Spartan EOD Steel. Each will come with weapons, ‘cause Mighty Bea… I mean ODD PODS are far too cute to defend themselves otherwise, what with their Tyrannosaurus arms.
I’d like to start a new internet acronym right here, even though I hate your average LOL or TTFN. It’ll be ITRN – “Is that really necessary?” You heard it here first, and when the lexicologists of the year 3000 look back into the internet archives to see from whence it was spawned, they’ll see McFarlane’s Odd Pods – because really, they look pretty okay, but is this necessary?

What is up with me today? I like Martha Stewart Munnys and I, too, kind of like the pill-capsule shape of these. Am I becoming a kinder, gentler blogger?
