I’m a little in love with eclectic superhero teams, so I’m kinda excited to find out about Gerard Way & Gabriel Bá’s weirdo-gothic ‘The Umbrella Academy‘ comic – only a year or so late. Not only is the comic Eisner Award winning, and deliciously finite, but Dark Horse will also satisfy my inevitable figure-lust with their upcoming 6-figure Umbrella Academy set.

Scheduled for a May release date and with an MSRP of $40 (which means that it shouldn’t be to hard to find it closer to $30), the set of small PVC figures includes all six (awesomely designed) main Umbrella Academy heroes : Spaceboy, The Kraken, The Séance, The Rumor, The Boy and The White Violin. From here, they seem to be appropriately scaled to fit in with your average 3 3/4″ Star Wars figure, with smaller characters like The Boy being only 2″ tall and the hulking Spaceboy being 5″. Of course, if you just want a taste, the 4″ White Violin is also being released separately with a special edition hardcover of the first 6 issues.

The whole thing looks exceptionally awesome, and I’m always looking to add unique superheroes to my shelves. I’m also inclined to support anything that cover artist James Jean lends any artwork to, since that guy is on fire.
