designers, vinyl

maiko-prototype Luke Feldman posted a few pictures from his Split Obsession show in Hawaii. Now we have a closer look at the prototype for his “Maiko” toy [blogged here]. His website has a picture of the clay sculpt, and this appears to be made of clear resin.

I like the shape, and I especially like the wooden chopsticks in her hair. I’m looking forward to a painted version. I expect the face to have the signature Skaffs look with the almond-eyes and small lips, but maybe I’ll be surprised. You can check his blog for more updates.

On his myspace, I noticed his flash animated film: Who Saved the Moon. It’s a really cute piece, and it will be a part of the Little Big Shots Film Festival, an international film festival for kids. I don’t remember cool stuff like that when I was a kid. To see more of his flash animation, visit his website.

I'm a nerd who loves music, movies, graphic novels, and of course toys. I grew up in Los Angeles, and I currently live in the non-plastic part of Orange County. I'm a sucker for anything that is little and cute: plushies, Dunnys, Smorkin' Labbits, zipper pulls. My collection is dominated by Kozik and Uglydolls, and my latest obsession is IWG/Rocket World.
