LOST has many secrets, but no longer included in the mysteries of the TV island are the identities of the LOST Kubrick chase toys…Benjamin “Henry Gale” Linus and Desmond. I personally think the inclusion of a villain/anti-hero like Ben is an inspired move, and while I enjoy Desmond’s character, no doubt adding him over say Sun, Jin or Claire (or heck, how about Rose and Bernard) will have some fans guessing. But then isn’t that the point of JJ Abrams show really anyway?
Japan’s Instinct Toys opened a case and provided us with some great info. [I PhotoShop'd their pics together like a LOST lineup...or Kubrick paperdolls.] The LOST Kubricks are going to be sold by the case (24), the carton (96) and singularly (1, duh). From the packaging, they do not look like they will be blind-boxed; rather the character is indicated on the exterior. This is a good thing, since getting doubles of the Lostaways would mimic the size of the growing size of the show’s cast (which isn’t a good thing). However, your chances of getting Desmond are a slim 2 out of 96, while the normally ubiquitous Ben has the elusive Kubrick odds of 1 out of 96.
Here are the rest of the ratios and accessories:
- Jack: 19/96 (pistol)
- Sawyer: 18/96 (book)
- Kate: 16/96 (handcuffs)
- Sayid: 12/96 (walkie-talkie)
- John Locke: 12/96 (knife)
- Hurley: 8/96 (CD player)
- Charlie: 8/96 (guitar)
- Desmond: 2/96 (none, should have been a photo of Penny)
- Benjamin: 1/96 (cane)
With only one female in the set, the Kate Kubrick kind of has a Smurfette thing going. Good thing she comes with a pair of handcuffs in case any of the Kubrick gents get out of hand. The LOST Kubricks are brought to you by Medicom Toy Co. and should hopefully be dropping (out of the sky!) on these shores sometime soon. The TV show returns in early 2009.
