ToyCyte: Toy Culture Collected

I saw this picture of the all-black Koibito on the Project: Gallery blog. In case you’re not keeping track, this is the fourth colorway of Yoskay Yamamoto‘s walking koi. To summarize, here are the four editions that we’ve seen:

• Project: Gallery: white and silver
• Standard: red and white
• Munky King: black and gold
• San Diego Comic-Con: I’m guessing this will be the all-black edition

You can the previous three versions on Yoskay’s blog. Exclusivity is key for collectors, so I assume that the Comic-Con edition will be really popular. I consider rarity as a factor, but I’m more about the colorway. I buy toys that are aesthetically pleasing to my personal tastes. I think the all-black is sleep, but you lose some of the details in the scales and fin. I think I prefer the standard colorway and the Munky King edition. Then again, I’d have to see all of them up close before I really make up my mind.
