Here’s part of the “joke” I’m not in on: Why is it that I can easily by myself a KAWS ashtray and pillow at one of my favorite toy shops, but I have to stand in line (or get a mule) outside of Tokyo’s flagship Original Fake store to actually get this KAWS toy? A similar lottery was held for the KAWS Stormtrooper last September. As expected, the Kawstrooper brought the crowd, including a couple of recognizable locals who’d flown out of SFO for the occasion. (As a sidenote, in December, I saw a Kawstrooper for sale at ToyTokyo in New York.)
Hopefully, these OriginalFake Dissected Be@rbricks will also make their way overseas, as it might just be the best opportunity for those of us anatomy toy fans to own a piece of KAWS we can actually afford. The brown edition OF Be@rbrick come in three sizes 1000% (27,000 yen / $290 USD), 400% (8190 yen / $88 USD) and 100% (1575 yen / $17 USD). These will be released (along with a pair of Levi’s, so expect the fashionistas) on February 28th in accordance to the strict lottery rules clipped below.

Vinyl Pulse’s blog post about this product
says we should be on the “look out for the
U.S. releases through OF retailers a few
weeks after the first release.”
I wonder how little or how many will be
sold in America?

Probably a bunch. Someone on the KR board pointed out that these are NOT limited ala the Kawstrooper, so anybody who sells Be@rbricks in America (ToyTokyo, DoublePunch) should have them. I’ve even now seen leaked pictures of the other colorways. My problem is more with this whole exclusive OF lottery system I guess–especially when it’s not even for an exclusive toy!
