Kaws on CBS News

Beyond Toys, designers

It’s nice to see that CBS News is covering other things besides the elections, various wars and the downward spiral of the economy. Posted on Kaws’s blog (where we grabbed these pics) were photos from a recent visit of a CBS News crew and correspondent Serena Altschui (who’s also worked with CNN, Channel One and MTV) to Kaws’s art packed studio. This old school network is doing a piece on his stellar collection of work, which is arguably more interesting and cheery that regular current events or “world news”. His new pieces look pretty damn cool in all their spongebobbish ways. I love the chair in the pic below, I wonder if he paints on all his furniture? That would be pretty damn rad. The above pic is of a piece that Kaws had just completed the night before. Now that’s some fresh paint. Funky F-r-e-s-h!
