UK doodler and Egg Qee scrambler, Jon Burgerman is starting a band. The project is as-yet unnamed, but I can already predict that even if he called it The Jon Burgerman band, it would kick the collective asses of rival band gangs like The Dave Matthews Band, and uh, The J. Geils Band.
I’ve been jogging my brain about what I could possibly contribute to this musical endeavor. The sampled sound of fingers tapping a keyboard (Dell, not Casio)? Witty and/or pretentious song titles? “Musical ideas?” (Hey, it worked for Joel Gion.)
Anyhow, if you’ve seen any of those TV shows where they put together a “band” based on industry “experts” and questionable popular opinion and thought, I could do this, contact Jon or leave a comment here.
The gist is: Jon will be the mastermind, pen the lyrics and doodle the art, while other folks contribute the music. The plan is to make ten songs with music provided by ten people. Location, age and musical ability are unimportant. All of the logistics will take place online. The final outcome of the project may result in a vinyl or CD release. He’s choosing his bandmates by August 11th, so if this strikes a chord with you, strike up a conversation with Jon soon.
