Beyond Toys, designers

I welcome the stormy weather of Autumn, Fall and Winter. The first sign of wet and wooly weather? Storm Clouds. But I needn’t look to the sky for this, I can just glance down at any well stocked coffee table. Storm Clouds is the title of artist Jeff Soto’s new book and includes his dreamy portraits of robotic creatures, mysterious entities and of course flowers and rainbows!

The book will put you back $45 but you also have the option of upgrading to the special Collector’s Edition (limited to 250 pieces) that includes a one-of-a-kind clam shell box with debossing, full color label and a signed and numbered print set. The print set includes includes: 4 signed and numbered prints, 1 cover sheet and 1 certificate of authenticity, packaged up in 1 protective envelope. And yes, the book will be signed and numbered to match the fine art edition of the prints, as well. But that one will set you back $455. Go here for more info.

About the book:
Storm Clouds
Jeff Soto’s, second installment, “Storm Clouds,” features paintings that evolve beyond the robotic characters featured in the sold out, “Potato Stamp Dreams.” “Storm Clouds” captures new painted territory that record Jeff’s concerns for the well being of his family, the fragile condition of politics, the changing forces of nature and moments for personal exploration and experimentation.

This hard cover volume features 154 pages, specialty printing techniques and over 264 high-quality, full color images. Featured commentary provided by David Choe, Peter Frank (Senior Curator of Riverside Art Museum), Jeff Soto and Mark Murphy. The Riverside Art Museum and the James Irvine Foundation provided initial support, as they will be featuring Jeff in his first museum show in December of 2008.
