It’s Interview Monday. Following this morning’s video interview with Simone Legno, here’s a twelve minute insight into the mind and sketchbook of James Jarvis. James was interviewed by Alex Gould, a student at Liverpool, and the video was posted today on the Amos Blog. The video shows a great time lapse sketch, as well as insight into the “process” and how James’ drawings translate to toys, shirts and more. All perfectionists and OCD-types will want to hear James talk about accepting errors, the naturalness of drawing and leaving in unconscious (non-calculated) marks. He goes on to discuss the issue of how he is always “yo-yoing between the purity of minimal line and maximum cross-hatching,” as well as adapting to whatever opportunities come your way to make a living as an artist. Good stuff. Check it out!
