I’ve said it before : April 10th, I.W.G. ‘Humans Beware’, Rocketworld, San Francisco, awesome, fun, toys, run for your life.

Mr. Jon Paul Kaiser takes the IWG rhinoform and transforms him, completely without the use of color, into a Spider-Man villain. Of all things. Coincidentally, the villain in question is The Rhino, who is already ridiculously costumed and a product of the fevered wackiness of Stan ‘The Man’ Lee. I totally dig the reference and execution – the designer toy world doesn’t have enough Sinister Six in it.

Brian Colin (whose pickled Obama will forever be one of my favorite customs) knocks it outta the proverbial park with this ‘Hatchling’, a lumpy, sculpted up lizard of a bear which is pure neatness.

Paul Kaiju finally reveals a completed piece and not just a blurry armpit, and while I don’t know what ‘Regurge’ is, I feel like it’s what Jem might have seen had someone slipped something into her space-drink. I still can’t imagine how Mr. Kaiju does what he does, and I don’t know if I want to know.

And finally, design collective 64 Colors delivers something in my favorite theme : woodgrain. Having already conquered a girl scout, he’s clearly hungry for more and ready to camouflage himself with your grandma’s creepy pirate furniture.

This show is bringing out some of the best customs I’ve seen yet, and there are a ton left to go.
