After the weekend, I’m still on an Indiana Jones kick. Hasbro has new Mighty Muggs figures for fans of Dr. Jones. They won’t be ready to ship until mid-July, but you can order them now. You can buy the Indiana Jones Mighty Muggs which comes with a whip. If you like villains, check out Mola Ram Mighty Muggs, the cult leader from Temple of Doom. Fans of Raiders of the Lost Ark will recognize the Cairo Swordsman (above right). He was on-screen for a brief moment, but he was part of one of the funniest moments in film history.
I saw Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and I thought it was a great popcorn flick. If you enjoyed any of the previous movies, you’ll like this one. It has the right blend of action, hokey comedy, and cheesy dialogue. It’s even better when you watch it with fellow Indiana Jones geeks. For two hours, I felt like I was a kid again. I have to quote a friend who described it perfectly: “Harrison Ford usually looks like shit, but once he puts on that fedora and outfit, he becomes Indiana Jones.” I wasn’t sure if they could continue the franchise, but I was pleasantly surprised. Harrison Ford still has it.
