Huck Gee’s Skullhead in a Bunny Suit

Beyond Toys, action figures, custom, vinyl

huck-bunny1

If you are the rare bird who was put off by all the violence in those carefully-crafted weapons-n-ammo accessories of recent Huck Gee customs, you’re in luck: Huck is showing off his softer side with a series of ten SkullBunny figures.

This little guy has been sitting on the backburner for a year or so, trying to figure out the best way to bring him to reality. So we stuffed him in some fur and sewed him up tight, and we think the results are quite adorable!

The 10 custom hand-painted, fur suited, SkullBunny figures will be, albeit briefly, available this Friday, May 8th at Noon PST for $650 each at Huck’s eBay store. Each is signed, numbered and comes in shown bunny suit. Due to the nature of the materials, some differences should be expected in each figure. FYI, I think these are freakin’ adorable, too.

Is that $65 or $650? Awesome, btw

  2. Jeremy Brautman Says:

Yup, you read it right: $650. Sounds expensive, but that’s kind of a recession discount if you look back in the archives at the $800-$1500 pricetags for Huck’s previous pieces. These will sell out in 5 seconds. Don’t believe me? Lurk and refresh the eBay link on Friday…

I may be in the minority here but this doesn’t look that cool to me. I’ve always loved this skull face but it looks like its wrapped in the carpet from my gradeschool. Sorry Huck you’re one of my absolute favorites but this is just mailing it in. Still better than a pooh-sicle though.

Kylo76, hands down my favorite poster :)

  5. Jeremy Brautman Says:

For real. Too bad he can’t make a living off brilliant comments, b/c he has my vote too.

  6. Kylo76 Says:

I would take making a living on anything right now, quit rubbing it in Jeremy. I’m pretty sure I got Huck’s vote too.

  7. newday Says:

Boring nothing new here… Don’t get me wrong I love Huck stuff but he is getting greedy and nothing new….

  8. Freeny Says:

Its hard to speak your mind honestly, especially when you are trying to make it in the same art world. Ironically, the bigger your name becomes, the harder it becomes to criticize others.
I actually think these aren’t all that bad, not for me but certainly unique with the fur…
And as far as cost goes, they are worth exactly what someone else is willing to pay for them ;)

  9. Jeremy Says:

Who’s rubbing it in? If anyone wants to hire me to write about toys and Kyle to submit frequent witty commentaries about me writing about toys, we’ve both got great references and availability.

I think I gave up critiquing prices. Sometimes it’s a bummer if you can’t afford something, but then also the artist has to make a living, and Huck’s just doing this. You don’t see Huck Gee iskins and sneakers (yet). Anyway, at least he’s not selling them in blind boxes.

  10. Kylo76 Says:

Don’t get me wrong I don’t dislike this figure at all, it’s just that Huck has set such a high standard with his pieces that this falls a little short in my small mind. I will never begrudge anyone for the prices they charge, except maybe KAWS. Especially not Huck because you can tell how much effort goes into his pieces. You’re right Freeny, if someone is willing to pay those prices, then that’s what it’s worth. In honor of you Jeremy, my comments will be blind boxed in the future.

  11. Huck Says:

Nice discussion in here. Honestly. I don’t mind negative (ahem, constructive) comments, as long as they’re delivered eloquently and with substance. :)

That being said, there’s history to the bunny suit figure. This is a figure I wanted to make for years…. I’ll post pics before the weekend explaining. ;)

  12. Kylo76 Says:

Huck, you are a true gentleman, no explanation needed, it’s cool that you even pay attention to what we say. Tonight I will drink a Sloe Gin Fizz in your honor while I listen to the latest episode of The Shadow on the transistor.

  13. Jeremy Brautman Says:

What started as a critique has now evolved into a lovefest. Hippies.

  14. Kylo76 Says:

    At least I don’t live in Berkely…

  17. ConcreteJawBone Says:

I can get a real chinchila cheaper than this. I know its art but c’mon. I hate blind boxes!
