After reflecting on some of my own snarky financial editorializing (stemming from the cost of living in the Bay Area, gas prices, toy prices and the BS the airlines are doing with our FF miles, among other things), I decided to just bite the bullet and ask Huck Gee a possibly taboo but entirely frank question about prices. Huck was incredibly open and forthcoming about it and thankfully didn’t seem offended. I’m hoping to bring you a bit of his response, since I feel like it provides another credible viewpoint to an ongoing discussion. The reality is, the toy community just loves to complain and we all benefit from the glorious protection of anonymity the Internet affords us. I’ve got this soapbox here, so I’m on record for my opinions and commentary. And if Huck gives me the OK, I’ll share some of his feelings on the situation.
But for right now, you can peep Huck’s latest figure from the Gold Life series, The Legendary Golden Claw (take two). Like the first Legendary Golden Claw, these ten hand-painted Dunnys are signed, numbered, gold embossed and come with the shown accessories. Huck brought to my attention some of the factors people don’t realize about his work–like the amount of molds he goes through to perfect each figure and the subtle head-to-toe detailing that doesn’t show up in the photos. Each figure is $800 and will be available at 12PM PST on Friday August 15th at Huck Gee’s Ebay Store.
