Even as someone who’s not a fan of movie-based figures, and as a morally steadfast guy who can’t see the appeal of gangsters, and even as one of the few sheltered people left in the world who has never seen The Godfather, Hot Toys’ upcoming Don Corleone figure is pretty freakin’ amazing.
The 1/6th scale figure was recently announced by Hot Toys & Sideshow Collectibles, and features an eerily realistic portrait, fancy prom suit, and other unannounced accessories – including that amazing chair that he’s planted his ample, masculine buttocks in. Say what you will, but I’m a strong proponent of figures that include their own seating arrangements. This is the third time that the notoriously difficult to obtain, officially authorized portrait of Marlon Brando has found its way onto a toy, preceded by a 1/12th scale McFarlane figure and a 1/4th scale Sideshow Toys statue. Dare I say that this one seems to be the best? And can this open up the gateway to getting Island of Doctor Moreau figures? Just him and the lovely, lovely Fairuza Balk, please.
Like other Hot Toys, Marlon is retailing for around $170 and is expected to strategically conquer the US in the spring of 2009. I’m already imagining how he’ll interact with the Enterbay Mr. Bean. Hilariously, I presume.
