I really love Hi-Fructose Magazine, and I think this is going to be the art show of the summer. The Hi-Fructose Group Exhibition opens on Saturday, July 12 at the Copro Nason Gallery in Santa Monica. The artist reception and opening party will take place 8 – 11pm, and the shows run until August 2nd.
Here are the artists who have been confirmed for the show: Amy Sol * Anthony Ausgang * Attaboy * Brian McCarty * Brian Viveros * Chris Peters * Christopher Ryniak* Dan Quintana * Daniel Lim * Dave Cooper * David Stoupakis * Esao Andrews * Germs * Gris Grimly * Jeff Gillette * Jeff McMillan * Brian McCarty * Jeff Soto * Jim Woodring * Josh Keyes * Keith Weesner * KMNDZ * Kukula * Lola * Luke Chueh * Mark Covell * Martin Witfooth * Matt Dangler * Naoto Hattori * Nathan Spoor * Noferin * Oksana Badrak * Ray Caesar * Shag * Stella Im Hultberg * Tin * Travis Louie * Winston Smith * Xiaoqing Ding
The roster is a Who’s Who of the low brow/counter culture art scene. I’ve seen some of them on the pages of Hi-Fructose, and I’ve seen a few in local galleries. I’m excited about the entire show, but I’m particularly interested in my personal favorites: Amy Sol and Matt Dangler. Her work is so beautiful, and she currently has a show at Thinkspace Gallery. I’ve been following Dangler’s work since his Wolverine painting at “Under the Influence: A Tribute to Stan Lee.” I would love to see his art made into toys. If you’re only able to see one art show this summer, I think this is the one.
By the way, the Hi-Fructose Collected Edition Box Set [blogged here] will be available for pre-order at their online store on June 13th.
