There is a lot happening in the world of politics these days, the contest for the democratic nomination, the gearing up for the November US elections, and wars here and there. But the really big news in global politics took place on Monday when Japan named their new official tourism ambassador.

Due, I’m sure, to their experience, education and connections, the one and only Hello Kitty has been bequeathed with the honor to inform the masses on the vacation friendly status of Japan. The beloved Sanrio character will preside over tourist relations in China and Hong Kong where she has become wildly popular. What next? The French Dunny as Prime Minister of France?
