Christmas comes early for goths this year (Although, technically, previews come early. Some of these actual figures will drop after the holidays). First up: a 1:6 scale edition of Morpheus aka Dream aska The Sandman. The Sandman is the first in a new line of figures inspired by the Absolute Editions, and the first Vertigo character to get the 1:6 scale treatment. Dressed in an intricate and authentically detailed costume, including a 4-panel tattered cloak, The Sandman comes with many character-specific accessories, including his ruby necklace, the Helm of Dreams, the Key to Hell, Goldie the Gargoyle, Matthew the Raven and a display stand. The figure is packaged in a special slipcase to evoke the Absolute Editions that inspired it and costs $125. Goldie! Matthew! Looking at the pictures here at DC Direct made me want to re-read all the comics again.
Next up, the first ever Vincent Price statue. From the second Roger Corman-directed, Edgar Allen Poe-based film, The Pit and the Pendulum, we get this deluxe collectors statue. Vincent Price as Don Nicholas Medina comes with: torture dungeon base, cauldron (cauldron has hidden battery activated light in it to make it look like the fires are glowing) and poker! The figure is 12 inches tall, costs $149.99 and should arrive this month. Pre-orders are being taken at Amoktime here.
And last, but not least, there’s Boris Karloff: everyone’s favorite Frankenstein. Coming in December is a deluxe 12-inch (1:6 scale) Karloff family-approved collectors’ figure. The Boris Karloff figure includes three interchangeable heads from three distinctive points in Karloff’s life, display stand and a deluxe 4-color window box with a fifth panel. The price is $55.99 and pre-orders are being taken at Amoktime here.
