vinyl

canico-cat-white I know all the other toys are frumpy step-sisters compared to the Comic-Con exclusives. This vinyl cat isn’t an exclusive, but I want it. The Godzilla Ya Canico Cat is the mascot for Godzilla Ya, a famous toy store in Tokyo. The 6″ vinyl figure is made by US Toys.

Each cat comes with a “variety of accent colors,” so each will be unique in some way. I think “uniqueness” is supposed to make you overlook the price tag of $60.

I really like it because it reminds me of a lucky cat. It’s not the same thing, but it has that same cuteness factor. You can buy it at Lulubell Toy Bodega, and they have two available colors: white and orange. Customers are limited to one per color, per customer.

I'm a nerd who loves music, movies, graphic novels, and of course toys. I grew up in Los Angeles, and I currently live in the non-plastic part of Orange County. I'm a sucker for anything that is little and cute: plushies, Dunnys, Smorkin' Labbits, zipper pulls. My collection is dominated by Kozik and Uglydolls, and my latest obsession is IWG/Rocket World.

I love it! It definitely has the same cuteness factor as the lucky cat.

you know… the “uniqueness” always forgives overpricing.

saki: I know. I want, but I have to save money for SDCC. Sigh.

Risa: you think uniqueness is a good trade-off. Hmmm…I may have to ponder that rationale.

You get what you pay for. This is quality handpainted japanese vinyl not some crud “art toy” from china. I would rather pay 60 for this than for crap painted with a sket1 design by some dude in factory. just an(my) opinion.

I hear what you’re saying. Just from the picture, it looks well-made.
