Jazwares has announced that they have the official toy license from the upcoming Imagi Animation Studios Astroboy film, after ten years of production limbo. Animation purists will recognize Astroboy as being one of the core influences of today’s kaiju and mecha culture, so here’s hoping that Imagi pays homage where homage is due.
Similarly, toy purists will recognize Jazwares as a company that dabbles in action figures, but seems to put a lot more energy and passion into their Hannah Montana Star Theatre Projector. What might have been an extensive and exciting Mega Man license petered out after a few ill-painted, flimsy figures. Seriously, over eighty Robot Masters and we got three? And one of them was Shadowman?
So, Jazwares, do us proud. Give us a solid, articulated Astroboy - and then you can give us a rotocast, vinyl, hastily spraypainted one, just for old times’ sake.
