Glitter Vinyl Cyclops Ice Cream Cones

Fri, Jul 11, 2008

plush, vinyl

Now this is something fun. I spied these Cones on Mark Nagata’s blog, which has a pretty precious pic of Max (namesake of Max Toy Co) double-fisting three awesome Cones (including a green one I’d want to steal if stealing from children didn’t have such a stigma about it). Turns out Cones are the work of Sebastian from Canada who does the Cones Blog. Unfortunately, the site hasn’t been updated in about a year so I don’t know if the prices are still in effect.

  • 10-inch cones for $25
  • 15-inch cones for $55
  • 24-inch cones for $135

He also makes Furries and bloody vinyl knife key fobs. All the toys use glitter vinyl similar to a 50’s diner material. The eyes and mouths are made from hand-dyed and painted leather. Sebastian stuffs them with cotton and sews them on an industrial sewing machine. Great stuff to start your weekend. Hopefully this kicks off some attention from other bloggers and Sebastian will update his site or even bust out an Etsy shop.

These things are awesome! The rugged construction and heavy stitching definitely reminds me of the Naugas, plush monsters that were used to promote Naugahide in the early 70s (and re-released and available at http://www.naugahyde.com/promoitems_nauga.html )… the Naugas were also the inspiration for Touma’s Boos I believe. Anyway, that’s some very cool ice cream!

Hey thanks for the Naugahyde link. Those are awesome! I will have to write those up under separate cover. Cheers!
