Just posted an interview with Curster’s Erin Currie, whose work is informed by Norwegian folklore, and I immediately come to find out that Parisian graphic designer, Geneviève Gauckler is headed to Norway for a workshop on trolls! The 4-day workshop (beginning 6/16) is held by Transplant in West Norway to explore the changing myth of the troll. It includes a 3-course dinner, music and an “Open Troll Bar!” Those Scandinavians really know how to put on an art party. Wish I could be there.
The schedule is:
Day 1/Arrival
- Discover the growth exhibition at Transplant
- Evening fairy tale
Day 2/Explore the Troll Myth
- Tour into the troll forest
- Play and work around urban myths
Day 3/Create Your Own Magic Figure
- Creation of story and illustrative graphics
Day 4/Meet the New Trolls
- Finalization of your illustration
- Presentation and documentation of works
- Your work joins the other magic figures
