Daniel Goffin just sent in these great proto photos for his upcoming From Russia With Love resin-cast toy. He’s about to finish the sculpting phase and dive into making the molds and casts. The toy will consist of four parts: The hat, the figure, the turret and the base of the tank. The size, including the hat is a little over 6″ (around 16 cm). It will be released on November 14th during the opening of the “Russians” exhibition at rotopol (Kassel, Germany). The set will be limited to 10 pieces (signed and numbered) packaged in a kaiju-like plastic bag with header card. The painting of every toy will be unique but similar. A preview will be available in the coming week.
In a creative, highly web 2.0 way to finance the first steps of the production, Daniel has set up a fundraiser at fundable.com (click the link for more info and the donation page). Anyone donating the minimum amount will receive a limited edition signed and numbered print which will be only available for this purpose. Anyone donating more than $140 will receive the print and the actual toy. If somebody donates $300 all at once, he will create a unique customized version of the toy. This artist is not letting the murky confusion or financial myths of the toy-making process hold him up, so he’s reaching out to the international community for assistance. Very cool. Keep us posted!
