ToyCyte: Toy Culture Collected

Just like the daily polls, I am avidly watching the Barack Obama customs for the upcoming Art + Action: Custom Obama Action Figure Show that are trickling in from artists far and wide. If you live in a cave or are in some kind of McCainish denial, the much anticipated show will be happening at Toy Tokyo’s The Showroom (and put together by Jailbreak Toys) on October 17th. Along with sneak peaks of customs by Brian Colin, Brent Nolasco, Leecifer, Bigfoot and Suckadelic, here is a stellar one by ESC Toys head honcho and toy designer extraordinaire Erick Scarecrow.

Erick sent an image of the custom to me this morning. It is “based on the style of the Yellow Submarine cartoon. Yes I’m a fan”. A fan of Obama or the Beatles? You know, he’s a smart man, he’s probably a fan of both. The psychedelic era colors makes Obama look like he’s not just ready to take on the White House but any color house.
