Medfed is an imprint that focuses on the relationship between people and medicine. Their figures are “designed to prompt individuals to examine both the origin and extent of their relationship with medicine.” I can get on board with that. Of course, here in the States, many people’s relationship to medicine is fairly nonexistent due to our absence of universal health care. But that’s another post for another website.

Medfed joined forces with Wheaty Wheat to release the 8” vinyl Dolly. Per Medfed’s MySpace page:

Inspired by the pantone-colored covers of Jacqueline Susann novels, and named after her most famous work “Valley of the Dolls,” Dolly captures the retro feel of this classic 60’s novel, where Valium was taken openly, with an updated urban sensibility. Dolly has been exhibited at both Comic Con and Vinyl Toy Network where vinyl addicts asked for “additional dosages.” The package further acknowledges the association between music and pills, as well as suggests clues to each of the color’s “recommended usage.”

The Standard (ltd. to 504 pieces; $59.99) and exclusive Black Beauty (ltd. to 84 pieces, $89.99) colorways are available for pre-order at Sideshow Collectibles. The Gage Mono Gray version (ltd. to 150 pieces; $79.99) is only available for pre-order at Tainted Visions with an anticipated ship date of June 1st.
