Today marks the release of the new David Choe Adidas Originals sneaker from Upper Playground. This Stan Smith shoe is the second sneaker in the four-part series, which also includes kicks from Herbert Baglione, Sam Flores, and Aesop Rock. A new sneaker will be released each Thursday. Each pair will retail for $150.00.
Los Angeles native David Choe is a muralist and graphic artist. He has designed and produced apparel, comic books, movie posters, album covers, fine art books and toys, among many other projects. Choe has collaborated with companies such as Electronic Arts, Levi’s, Sony Pictures and now Adidas. Says Choe: “I wanted to convey a mixture of serial killers, ninjas, nightmares and Ice-T lyrics.” Choe is also the star of a feature documentary on his life called Dirty Hands [blogged].
I’m digging the hot black and red colorway, but if I buy one sneaker this week, it’s gonna have to be the high-top adult-sized version of these old school, back to school Nike dunks seen here. There are only 500 pairs of the Choe sneaker available worldwide. Sizes range from men’s size 4 to 13.5.
