Beyond Toys, designers, events

Some boys like big toys. Not just figures you can sit on the shelf but ones that are life sized or better yet, bigger and grander than real life. Enter the sculptor Colin Christian who finds inspiration from “old sci-fi movies, pinup girl/supermodels, anime, ambient and electronic music and H.P. Lovecraft.” His surreal and super sized rendering (they clock in at about seven feet tall ) of beyond perfect females forms, with a good measure of kink thrown in, take over New York next week. The opening of his solo show Solaris is on May 8th at the highfalutin Opera Gallery in NYC’s Soho. It’s by invitation only so don’t’ even think of crashing but the rest of the world -meaning you - can go check it out starting May 9th.
