designers, plastic, vinyl

We at ToyCyte are big fans of the whimsical work of Netherlands-based artist Charles Stephan, so I was psyched to get an email from him announcing his latest endeavor: Charles’ Creature Cabinet. The company officially opened its doors this September selling 100% handmade art & crafts, unique and high quality collectible artist toys, Asian ball-jointed dolls, designer toys and character dolls. Charles’ Creature Cabinet is Charles Stephan’s dream studio from design to manufacturing operated in The Netherlands, with an Indonesian mini-factory for manufacturing small runs of limited editions. Charles’ Creature Cabinet is dedicated to bringing toy fans a high quality product (NO mass productions) as well as wonderful and unique little pieces of art.

In his artist’s profile, Charles cites influences ranging from Disney and Henson to Miyazaki and Nara to Ryden and Burton. Besides the popular Alice Cherry Blossom (versions produced by both Elf Doll and Toy2R), Charles’ Creature Cabinet will be offering new tiny figures including Yoshi, The Woodling Faerie & Boneka Kayu. Charles lives by the mantra of keeping your inner child alive. As the editor of a website who spends most of my time collecting and writing about toys, I have to say I concur. Look for the official Creature Cabinet site to be active within the next week or so.
