Michael Lau Nike Air Crazy Force Colorways: Insane Prices

Damn. I was feeling the installation of the Michael Lau x Nike Crazy Force 1, more than the figure or the sneaker when I wrote about the black and white version last week. Now Lau’s gotta go and drop 25 variants of the 6-inch Crazy Michael figure with different facial colors all signed with crazy hand-drawn eyes (limited to 150 pieces). Of course, my eyes strayed to the lime variant (below) and now I’m, you could say, green with envy. All of the figures were blind-boxed and are most definitely sold out. There was also an extremely rare all black version, limited to just 10 pieces for friends and family only. A cursory scroll through eBay shows some speculative selling of the B&W figures at, ready: from $600 to over $800. Now that’s just crazy. [pics via CrazyToyz]

We Kill You Brings Padihershef V2 Into the World

Today at noon (California PST time) or 3pm (Toronto Time) the second version of the Padihershef V.2 by We Kill You will be available for purchase directly from the WKY webstore.

This new version of this grinning mummy figure is “painted in my favorite Kaiju colorway” says the Padihershef creator. You may recall this figure from the we Kill You Halloween set: it was the last of the four pieces. The figure will be limited (of course) and will retail for $40.

About Padihershef:

Spending his mortal days as a worker, Padihershef was killed at a young age after being crushed by falling stone. He sunk into the underworld, a dark and chaotic place, where he set forth on a journey to reunite with his soul and make it back to the day-lit world he once knew and loved. Finally, after his journey over land and sea, lasting 12 human lifetimes, he has made his way to our world.

Mekazoo x Patch Together = Robolucha

The fine folks of Patch Together have released images and preorders for their next big thing, the Robolucha designed by Mekazoo, almost a year after the original design submission. I know for a fact that robots like to rock ‘em and/or sock ‘em, so full-on wrestling was a natural progression.

The Robolucha comes in three colorways, and like Janus, the Roman god of gates and doorways and patron deity of janitors, each colorway has dual faces - one on each side of its head, which can be spun to reflect their intent. Standing at 6″ tall and limited to 300 of each variety, these guys can be ordered until December 15th for a special pre-order price of $30, as opposed to the regular price of $45, or a three pack to complete the whole armada. Just keep them on separate shelves, or their never-ending battle for superiority will keep you up at night.

Crazy Pop Skullbox from ARTDENKA

The brainstrikers ARTDENKA from Japan want you to know that DKE is distributing their crazy vinyl from Hell figure, Skullbox. Influenced by punk rock and horror, they want to spread the gospel that toys are art. That’s a mantra ToyCyte can get behind. Skullbox is about 4 inches tall with 7 points of articulation. He’s made of high-quality Japanese vinyl. The packaging includes a sticker and a postcard. Edition size is 350 pieces. Start looking for these in your local shops. Argonaut Resins x Jared Deal Vlad the Vampire Ice Edition

Due to the popularity of the first run of 13 resin Vladimir figures by Jared Deal and Eric Nocella of Argonaut Resins, Vlad is back–and his intentions are transparent. He wants to go home with you, but he won’t bleed you dry. On Halloween, Eric revealed a trio of True Blood translucent red Vlad variants, which were snatched up quicker than a goth kid at a vampire bar. Now, the team is getting ready to drop a rainbow of 9 Vlad variants on December 5th at 12PM EST in the Argonaut shop. Each figure stands 5 inches tall, and the coffins measure 5 1/2 inches. All figures come complete with a certificate of authenticity signed by Jared Deal (designer) and Eric Nocella (sculptor). Each certificate will come in a wax sealed envelope. With the exception of the pic immediately below, the other photos should be considered works in progress and not necessarily indications of the colorways that will be available. Of course, I chose to show you the clear green Vlad, which I think looks awesome. The painted green figure underneath is a turnaround of my Vlad from the first edition for reference.

Limited Edition Brian Castleforte Wack & Blite at VTN

Brian Castleforte aka Wack & Blite toys will present a very limited edition of one of his creatures at the Pretty in Plastic booth at this weekend’s Vinyl Toy Network. The limited Wack & Blite toys will be in a very special secret colorway series. And when I say limited, I mean REALLY limited. There will only be six of the figures available for sale. Each one will come with a special print and some very special packaging. No word on the price. They will be sold both days or until they “sell out”.

Wack (King of the White Tribalnots) and Blite (King of the Black Tribalnots) are “wild, fanged and clawed jungle dwellers” are from two enemy tribes in Brian Castleforte’s imaginary land of Wammbodia. These Tribalnot creatures debuted last June.

WACK: The King of the White Tribalnots is kind to a fault, tireless in his altruism and driven to defend his fellow Nots with a manic psychosis. Simply, Wack is the nicest Not you’ll ever meet and loves to spend his time cooking, especially baking or riding the Eternal Wave out on Lake Kakatittienottie. Okay, singing via a blog entry may not be all that cool but the Wreck the Halls show at Genuine Artikle in Brooklyn happening on December 20th at 8pm will surely be. This jam packed holiday show is a celebration with Immortal Beloved Toys (the New York based vinyl toy store) and the gallery, Genuine Artikle. The show will proudly feature a whole slew of Flying Fortress Teddy Troop Customs, just in time for Christmas.

Super 7 x Gorilla Biscuits Available Today!

Today, December 2^nd, at 5pm (Pacific time) the Gorilla Biscuits figure by Super7 will finally be available to the general public. This soft vinyl figure is a five inch rendering of the infamous hoodie-wearing Gorilla that acted as a mascot for the beloved band, the Gorilla Biscuits. The grinning ape sports a gray-ish hue, a blue hoodie and some sweet jet black hair.

The first version of the figure is being released in conjunction with the Gorilla Biscuits tours of Japan and Australia in December of this year. On the tour, just a limited quantity will be available. How about if you adore the Gorilla Biscuits or you just really love this figure and you just have to get one but you won’t be jetting off to Japan or Australia anytime soon? Well you will be able to have the chance to get one, if you are lucky, directly from Super7 today!

Why So Serious? Heath Ledger Homaged as Kaiju

So I’m sure many of you have seen the newest Batman movie, The Dark Knight. No??? What are were you thinking about??!!! Well if you have seen it, then the next figure is obviously a no-brainer.

Killer J has announced that he will be releasing a great homage piece using one of his figures, the Smoking Star. This is a homage piece to The Joker played by Heath Ledger, who had done a outstanding job on this film before his unexpected death. It’s great to see many people who have grown up reading and watching this villain but it is more great to see that there are a lot of fans overseas also.

This figure will be released on December 1^st at Popsoda for only 2500yen (~$25USD). Not only has he wrote that this will be released but also he has given a clue that there will be an overseas release next. What can this be???

Well one guess is this: I have gotten information that on December 17^th, LULUBELL will be releasing two versions of the Smoking Star. The clean and dirty version painted by a San Jose local artist, Joe Wu. Maybe this is what Killer J is talking about on his site when he mentions an overseas exclusive. Or maybe there’s more to come….

Coarse Toys Take On Berlin

The Coarse Toys NOOP show that debuted earlier this year at Rotofugi went pretty damn well. The stunning show was an awe-inspiring display of toy art. Now the crew of Coarse Toys (Mark Landwehr, Sven Waschk, and Chrissi Julich) are taking their vinyl magic to the people again, this time to Berlin, Germany, a bit closer to their home town of Hannover. The show takes place at 4010 Gallery and will open on December 10 at 8pm (and at 6pm if you are fortunate enough to get an invitation for the pre-party) and will be up until January 12^th. The show features brand new pieces for those lucky Germans to check out. If the Chicago show at Rotofugi was any indication, this show at the 4010 Gallery will surely be equally as amazing. So if you find yourself cold chillin’ in Berlin this winter, make sure to stop by.

Here is another Vinyl Toy Network exclusive that won’t last long. This eight-inch Dunny, the Stone Hermit Dunny, was done by Erick Scarecrow and will be limited to just twelve, yes TWELVE, one dozen, one more than eleven. That’s it. The piece will be available both days or until it is sold out, which really means for like a minute until they sell out. This piece was done in conjunction with DKE Toys.

This eight-inch Dunny could look as if it has some kind of pus-filled skin condition, but I think I’d prefer to think it was just decorated with a gazillon Whoppers and then had its feet dipped in a dark rich chocolate with Red Hots on its toe and finger nails. Okay, you might notice I have a wee bit of a sweet tooth. This piece is pretty undeniably yummy looking. So get to VTN early and try to get your own taste of this Dunny. No word yet on what booth it will be at or what the cost will be.

El Diablo by McBoing Boing Wax and Resin Prototypes

It’s getting’ hot in here. Coming soon to heat your toy shelf up will be the El Diablo by DJ and artist Robbie Busch aka McBoing Boing and Argonaut Resins. Check out the sculpt above done by Eric Nocella over at Argonaut Resins. Robbie Busch, I mean McBoing Boing, works out of New York, New York and this is his, we believe, first original resin piece. He has also lent his talents to a giant El Diablo Dunny custom for Kidrobot and did a Circus Punk and a Bud. The upcoming pac man eyed creature seems to be harnessing the memory of Hamlet in his “Alas, Poor Yorick” like pose complete with skull in hand.

This piece is following on the heels of the Vladimir figure by Jared Deal that quickly sold out from Argonaut Resins. El Diablo is scheduled as a “winter” release so it will no doubt be hitting the market soon. No word on size, quantity or price yet. But it’s a hot one and will be worth any damage it does to your wallet.

For our first exclusive, we chose to work with the much loved and well respected Mad*L platform. After hooking up with MAD, it was time to select an artistFor quite some time now we had longed to see a Mad*L design executed by Brooklyn NY based artist, Andrew Bell. Stitch x Mindstyle : Experiment 626 Launches in Hong Kong

It’s over. Disney has fully embraced the idea of the custom designer toy, and their mighty fists shall pound the idea into the masses, and their trumpeting, well-paid angels will send out a clarion call, mixing culture and subculture forevermore. The Experiment 626 Project Custom Art Show launched in Hong Kong this past Friday, November 28th. Wizards of Waverly Place Qees soon to follow, and subsequently, the end of the world.

The blank form in question : Mindstyle’s blank 8″ Stitch, from the movie ‘Lilo and Stitch’. Images are trickling in from the other side of the planet, including graphicairlines’ ghost-faced, worm-eared Stitch (via Flickr). The show will be traveling across the world throughout 2009, accumulating more and more artworks, and eventually wrapping up in Hawaii.

Also, check out Yuen Kee’s crazy colorsplosion of a Stitch, who is absolutely tickled to meet you. It’ll be exciting to see more and more pieces as they trickle in over the year, and here’s hoping that the Stitch army makes a stop in New York sometime soon.

The Mike Sutfin Bop Dragons Colorway Saga

Maybe you saw these spectacular hand-painted Bop Dragons by Mike Sutfin and lamented their complete exclusiveness. Maybe your only exposure to San Diego’s Sutfin is through a chance encounter with Mountain Dew. Either way, you’re bound to be blown away by these limited edition US and Japan Bop Dragons. The following text and pics supplied by Kirkland of Toybot Studios:

Perhaps one of the craziest colorways to come out of the Rumble Monsters stable, this Bop Dragon Mike Sutfin colorway is going to have you scratching your head with variations. All part of the devious plan stirred up at the House of Rumble Monsters in Japan.

First, Mr. Sutfin created his colorway and through secret contacts and meetings (yours truly was privy to one such meeting…until they smacked me over the head), passed along the vinyl and paint directions along with special utensils to an agent for Rumble Monsters. From there….maybe it was the long hours and paint fumes….but it turned out something like this….all in very small (TINY!) quantities:

While the Kaiju Monster Invasion show during Art Basel Miami promises to have a ridiculous number of impressive bits, Mr. Bob Conge sends along an especially interesting set of monsters, entitled ‘Plaseebo - The Awakening’. Conge always manages to summon some genuinely surreal, creepy creations. If there’s a way to make kaiju even more bizarre and frightening, Conge finds a way to freak me the hell out almost every time.

Five skeleton creatures float around in a handmade wooden cabinet, surrounding the sarcophagus of the Mummy Plaseebo. Not only do portions of the creatures light up via LED lights and switches, but they also glow in the dark, in a rare an innovative combination of bi-luminescence. Conge went on at length about the awesomeness and relevance of this work, but the pictures should be more than enough to convince you of the full-on, naked awesome.

The show will open on December 3rd at the Art Center of South Florida, and you should totally go so that I might live vicariously through you.

Green Flocked Domo is the Gateway Drug

Being green is so hip these days that my favorite color (previously lagging behind blue and red in blind polls) has received a positive PR infusion. Writers at ToyCyte were skeptical when the Canary Yellow Domo dropped, but I have to say, personally I’m loving the rainbow of five-inchers. I don’t have much else to add to Collin’s post on the current Domo spectrum. And Plastic and Plush has done the honors of reviewing the grass green Domo here. I realize I’m in the minority with my preference for the muted, earthier shade of olive over the considerably livelier grass, but in my little corner of the world, so far as little happinesses go, you really can’t beat olive green flocked vinyl. I was stoked to receive this in the mail from Things From Another World. It’s hard not to look at this guy and smile.

TFAW had five Domo colorways in the 5.5-inch size: Classic Brown (limited edition), Olive Green (limited edition of 800), Ruby Red (limited edition of 800), Earl Grey (limited edition of 800), and Polar White (limited edition of 500), but it looks like just brown and green are still available (along with a couple 8-inchers) here. If you’re doing an under $25 Secret Santa at your office, Domo is growing in recognition amongst the masses, and this figure comes handsomely (OK not exactly the right word) packaged in a colorful window box. A good gateway toy to start an innocent bystander on vinyl collecting.

Urban Warfair Declares Warfare on Black Friday

This year, I’ll be spending my post-Thanksgiving bloat safely at home, far from the maddening crowds and gnarls of angry traffic and my growing, white-hot rage at humanity. Fortunately, Urban Warfair has made the comparatively warm glow of the computer that much more appealing with their Black Friday sale (one of many, many online Friday delights), with all prices good from now until Saturday. Of special note is the low, low price of a mere $15 for two black or white 4″ Mini Skully customizable forms, and the three-colorway pack of designer Skullys for $50. I can only imagine what this Skully guy looked like when he had skin. The nicknames were undoubtedly unkind.

Also fresh from Urban Warfair’s Dennis Quijano is this customized Munny, complete with Skully-styled mask, though I venture that his Red Cross insignia is a gross misrepresentation of his true intentions. Proceed with caution, and snag this original work on eBay now.

Gorilla Biscuits x Super7 Update

Earlier in the month we posted a sneak peek of the much anticipated Gorilla Biscuits vinyl figure by Super7. This toy ain’t just anticipated by toy and Super7 fans, but by hardcore music aficionados as well. This figure is a vinyl rendering of the infamous hoodie-wearing Gorilla that acted as a mascot for the beloved band, the Gorilla Biscuits. And now he’s not just in a plain beige state, he’s been colorized! The grinning ape now sports a gray-ish hue, a blue hoodie and some sweet jet black hair.

Super 7 also announced the release date of the figure which will be December 2nd, yeah, coming really soon. The first version of the figure will be released in conjunction with the Gorilla Biscuits tours of Japan and Australia in December of this year. On the tour, just a limited quantity will be available. How about if you adore the Gorilla Biscuits or you just really love this figure and you just have to get one but you won’t be jetting off to Japan or Australia anytime soon? Well you will be able to have the chance to get one, if you are lucky, directly from Super7.
