You know what your bedroom needs? A portrait of Ron English, Gary Baseman or perhaps Shepard Fairey staring down at you while you get dressed, sleep and well, you know what. If this sounds seductive to you, you are in luck. Tatiana Wills and Roman Cho who are responsible for the wonderful portraits of beloved and influential contemporary [...]

This Saturday, Jon Burgerman will return to Forbidden Planet for a toy signing. Last there for his Toy2R Egg Qee series, Jon will likely have on hand a couple cases of the Heroes of Burgertown. I’m heading to Brooklyn for the holidays, and maybe I ought to pick up some of this new Futura gear for the trip. For Spring/Summer 2009, Futura Laboratories pays tribute to Brooklyn with a range of warez inspired by the city. The collection includes various t-shirts, fitted New Era caps and paint-splattered selvedge denim jeans. Each piece of the [...]

I don't typically go for potty humor, but I'm crazy about Touma's Pooty figure. There's something so absurd about a skunk off-gassing a vinyl fart cloud. Every time I look at them, they make me smile. To that extent, we're giving away three of the figures in exchange for a laugh. The funniest comment will receive the rare all-black Pooty figure signed, dated and doodled as a collab between Touma, ToyCyte and Paradise Toy Land (who donated the figure for the global good of rebuilding the ozone layer one poot at a time). Two runners up will be awarded the standard pink (with grey) and standard blue (with purple) Pooty figures, also signed and dated by Touma.

I wish I could go to this because not only is there great art--which includes work by Tristan Eaton, Julie West and Munk One among others--but I love watching the creation process. Everyone can afford to take home a piece of art and you can even have it customized to your size and color specifications. The best part is, geographical location is not an obstacle. You can order the t-shirts online here through November 22nd.

Maurice Sendak’s Where The Wild Things Are was one of my favorite books as a kid and still remains essential reading. A group of artists found themselves similarly affected and have created work inspired by Maurice Sendak for the Where The Wild Art Is exhibit. Attendees will be treated to 30 rare original drawings by [...]

If you could get rich off anxiety, let’s just say I’d own a fleet of yachts with Chuck E. Cheese-style ballpits filled with Dunnys. Unfortunately, anxiety is no fast track to wealth, but perhaps, at least, a catalyst to creativity. As part of Jon Burgerman’s latest London solo show, Because I Can’t Sit Still, he [...]

You might not be able to afford any of David Choe’s pieces from last year’s Murderous Hearts show in London (prices range/d from £3500 up to £37,500), but you can have the poor man’s way of taking home the entire gig. For £25 (that’s about $39 USD), you can pick up the hardcover catalog [...]

MINDstyle’s email referred to the Doktor A figure you see above as its “finest lineup of art toy collectible figures.” WOW, coming from MINDstyle, who, I feel, puts out some consistently quality art toys, that’s saying a lot. If this figure looks familiar, it’s because ten resin paint masters (below) of these guys were released [...]

Here they are, in all their rumored $25K colorways. This exhibition features the KAWS’ most recent paintings and sculpture. Large-scale acrylic works on canvas incorporate his usual cast [...]

Jeremiah Ketner will be opening his solo show, Morning Showers at the Melanee Cooper Gallery in Chicago tomorrow, November 7th from 5-8PM. Writes Jeremiah: For a long time my work has focused on the idea of finding happiness when things seem ugly outside. Bright colors, cute inviting characters and floral designs would [...]

Didn’t Kaws just put on a solo show? The answer, if you recall, is a big old yes. His solo show ‘Saturated’ is currently at the Galerie Emmanuel Perrotin in Miami, Florida. It opened in mid September and will run until November 15th. And before the paintings from that show can even be brought down, packed and shipped [...]

Hey, remember these? We’ve been talking about Kaws’ line of housewares with Gallery 1950 since July, but usually there’s nowhere to direct US readers who are flush with cash and lengthy ash to purchase them. Well ToyQube, based in Flushing, New York, just got the ashtrays in black and white ceramic finishes. Kaws’ wares are [...]
