Patrick Francisco has been working with AlwaysSEEN.com towards an exclusive T-Shirt project and they are finally ready for release! You know that slice of trivia about how Usher finds it soothing to sort his M&Ms by color before a show? Yeah? Really? You do? Stay with me, I’m going to loop back to that. Toward the beginning of my time at ToyCyte, I was writing about Jon Burgerman A LOT. A toy here, a [...]

Last night I could hardly sleep. Why you ask? well because today was the release of Chris Ryniak and Squibbles Ink + Rotofugi’s Big Muscamoot, part of Squibbles Ink Ink + Rotofugi’s Lake Monster series of vinyl toys. The colorway that dropped today was Lake Monster LM001B (aka “Seaweed”). Well to my disappointment by the [...]

The blind box strikes again! Bryan Collins’ Beast Buddies raise an interesting question : are blind boxes really that bad when every piece you can potentially get is original and from an artist you dig? Either way, Mr. Collins’ is offering up an undisclosed number of custom 3” Dunny Beast Buddies, each with an original sketch, [...]

As something of a food-toy gourmand, I’m pleased to see that Erick Scarecrow’s recently-released Waffle Micci is getting a variation, and an adorably pink one at that. ESC-Toy is no stranger to dropping the paint variants month after month, so I’m curious to see what’s next. A ‘burnt’ colorway? Frozen? Blueberry? While I’ve never seen a [...]

Like a pulsating, wild brain emerging from its natural habitat amid the undergrowth of the Amazonian rain forest, OsirisOrion’s entry into the Multiple Personalities 2 arrives! Even without his usual hyper-textured surfaces and build-ups, OsirisOrion’s steady hand does a beautiful job capturing the same awesome intricacies. I still enjoy seeing the simple charm of a [...]

One of my personal favorite (and lovably local) adhesive art companies, Infectious, has just come out with new designs by Jon Burgerman and Buff Monster. I’ve already got Jon’s Lunar Park Infectious car art (so look out for a Honda Civic all temporary tatted up), but now we can also ensconce our smaller gadgets with [...]

We last wrote about the designer toy scene in Poland for the Expo in January, but the lack of news since isn’t due to a lack of art. Photographer Abe Sapien has gotten involved with VinylCanvas, and hopes it will shine a spotlight on some of Poland’s finest. Here’s what the project is all about: Welcome [...]

Readers of ToyCyte will know we have a deep appreciation for Alex Pardee. That is why it gives us great pleasure to announce our [...]

If you had any doubt that The Addams Family lacked current cultural relevance, I direct you to the fact that its theme song is a very popular ringtone indeed. I love these two paintings by Doktor A. Each is acrylic on wood in an antiqued resin frame measuring 6 x 8 inches for $420. Check [...]

Upper Playground is giving away an Alex Pardee painting, “The Trap.” The painting is signed by Alex and at 6 feet by 4 feet, it is almost as tall (and with way more personality) as that NBA tool they had on last night’s episode of The Millionaire Matchmaker. You, too, can feel like a baller [...]

Wow. Check this out. The last time we reported on a Takashi Murakami “action figure,” it came with a NSFW $15.2 million price tag. At a mere $1,500 these highly stylized inochi action figures ease up on your budget, while still keeping some of that sexual tension intact. Murakami originally created the figures for a [...]

SKWAK is back! Technically, he never went away. He's actually been pretty busy, and his current schedule includes new toys, new tees and a show. Johan of the French art blog Some Cool Stuff recently interviewed SKWAK. If you can read French, bookmark his site and read the entire interview here. Alas, I cannot read French. Luckily my mom is fluent and was happy to translate. Johan asked SKWAK excellent and thoughtful questions about his art, style, mind and world. SKWAK reports back onan 8-inch Dunny with Kidrobot (!), an upcoming mini-figures series with MINDstyle (!!), an American animation project (!!!) and maybe even some porn (???). So with props to Johan and my mom (who is now a SKWAK fan and too-kindly likened my habit of cramming pages with words to Skwak's style of "too much"), here's the latest news from the Maniac World.
