Beyond Toys, designers

I wish I was crafty. I mean, I envy anyone who makes crafts. I’m interested in DIY projects, but my clumsy hands are only useful on the keyboard. Andrew Bell posted this hat/scarf combination on his blog. Vanessa from Giftable Designs created the piece which is based on Bell’s “Busy Bear.” You don’t need a side-by-side comparison to see that her work is really good. She captured the Busy Bear pose, and she even replicated the bloody paws. Visit her blog to see more pictures. Even if it doesn’t get that cold in Southern California, I would wear that.

Bell sends an open invite to other craftsters: “Any knitters out there who would be interested in a pattern/ instruction sheet?” If you’re interested, you should leave a comment on his blog or send him an email. This makes me wish I knew how to knit or crochet.

If you can’t get enough of Busy Bear, check out this t-shirt from his Dead Zebra, Inc. shop. Busy Bear reminds me a little bit of Gloomy Bear, and I love both creations.

I'm a nerd who loves music, movies, graphic novels, and of course toys. I grew up in Los Angeles, and I currently live in the non-plastic part of Orange County. I'm a sucker for anything that is little and cute: plushies, Dunnys, Smorkin' Labbits, zipper pulls. My collection is dominated by Kozik and Uglydolls, and my latest obsession is IWG/Rocket World.
