Buff Monster Drops Kaiju For Grown Ups

Tue, Nov 4, 2008

kaiju, vinyl

I think when it comes to KFGU, folks love it or hate it–and the same can be said for the dripping breast creature oeuvre of Buff Monster. A piece like this is therefore kind of a grail for people who like both. What is being called a “first edition” is clear with pink, gray and black sprays, about 5 inches tall, limited to 100 pieces, drops at the end of November and will retail for $64 USD. Produced by intheyellow, retailers (some with current pre-orders open) include: Tokyocube, Kuso Vinyl and Pink Ghost. The KFGU series is like a more “palatable” kind of kaiju for urban/designer vinyl collectors. Compare Tim Biskup’s Rangeas to a non-KFGU Rangeas for an idea. If you typically look at kaiju figures and think, “what the eff is that ugliness, but I do enjoy quasi-cute monsters,” KFGU may be for you. I’m digging this.
