Brian Castleforte (NiceBunny) will soon unveil his newest series, “Wack & Blite.” His solo exhibit opens on June 21 at Mobius in Los Angeles. The opening reception takes place at 7pm. We first saw the prototype of his Wack & Blite toy at the recent Vinyl Toy Network. He posted a picture of the unpainted version on his blog. The prototype looked great, and I’m sure the finished product will look even better.

His website currently offers two pre-release prints: LA Burns and LA Sinks. Each print is a limited edition of five. If you purchase a print, you also receive 2 Wack & Blite paper toys, stickers, and an exclusive, signed mini-print. Visit the links to see a picture of the mini-print. Each digital print has a different appeal, and I love the simple but striking colors of both. The critters of Wack & Blite will make great vinyl toys.

I remember seeing him at VTN, and he was one of the nicest guys ever. Everyone at the show was cool, but I recall how he answered one fan who was curious about paper toys. It was obvious that she had never seen paper toys before, and Castleforte was happy to share his knowledge. Whenever I see a moment like that, I start to follow the artist’s work more closely. Maybe that makes me a dork, but that’s okay. That moment made me a big fan of Brian Castleforte, and I wish him lots of success with “Wack & Blite.”

I'm a nerd who loves music, movies, graphic novels, and of course toys. I grew up in Los Angeles, and I currently live in the non-plastic part of Orange County. I'm a sucker for anything that is little and cute: plushies, Dunnys, Smorkin' Labbits, zipper pulls. My collection is dominated by Kozik and Uglydolls, and my latest obsession is IWG/Rocket World.
