Who knew that Ohio would give us anything other than The Indians and Bone Thugs n’ Harmony. This past weekend was Botcon ‘08 in Cincinnati featuring the latest and greatest info on everything in the Transformers Universe. It’s a good thing you saved yourself the trip since we’ve got all the toy highlights here. Let’s cut straight to the chase, shall we?
In cartoon geek news, fans of the G1 Transformers will be happy to hear that Blurr and Wreck-Gar are going to make an appearance in Season 2 and will be voiced by none other than the Micro Machine guy, Jon Moschitta, and…ahem…Weird Al. Before you kill the messenger, yes Eric Idol was approached to do Wreck-Gar, but he was booked up, and Mr. Yankovich gladly stepped up. Whether “Dare To Be Stupid will be going on in the Wreck-Gar scenes, is yet to be announced. Anyone weary of watching an American Cartoon Network Transformers show, should know the art direction is led by Derrick Wyatt of Teen Titan and Legion of Super Heroes fame. Check out these amazing designs for Bumble Bee, Ultra Magnus, Sentinel Prime, and my personal favorite, Swoop.
If you want some classic looking Transformers, check out Wave 3 of the Transformers Universe line. Here’s Sideswipe, Silverstreak, and Ironhide. I dig that the Sideswipe redesign is still a classic Lamborghini. I’m curious which member of the design staff is an insecure 45 year old Italian.

And finally, if you’re a fan of robotic midgets, then you’re probably looking for the Robot Heroes line. Botcon announced the new figures for fall ’08 which include Thrust vs. Blaster, Kickback vs. Ironhide, and Beast Wars’ Megatron vs. Silverbolt.

More announcements from Botcon to come, but I’ll give you guys some time to start your Christmas wish lists.
