For reasons unknown, Boba Fett is something of a cult favorite Star Wars character. Perhaps it’s his screaming death as he plummets accidentally into a space anus, or perhaps it’s that goofy dragon he rides in the Holiday Special cartoon, or maybe it’s the absolutely amazing MC Chris rap song, but the Warsies gots the hots for the Fett – and Medicom Kubricks are giving it to ‘em in six ways.
In a world where Star Wars has been done to death, resurrected and done to death once again, I love what Kubrick is doing. The Legendary Bounty Hunter set of six will include six subtle variations on Fett as he’s appeared in various Wars mythology : basic ‘vintage toy’ Fett, two interpretations by Star Wars concept artist Ralph McQuarrie, a ‘prototype’ black and white version, and two different animated versions (from the aforementioned Special and the Droids cartoon).
I’m more of a Vader man myself, but blocky little bounty hunters are something special, and I kinda thrive on subtle variations of form and color. And for the love of everything holy, they didn’t throw that friggin’ Jango Fett in there, so mad props, Medicom.
