Bob Conge Takes on American Greed

Beyond Toys, designers, vinyl

America recently got an injection of much-needed hope with the promise to put more focus on “main street” versus Wall Street in the near future. Although there was some shock as a nation to hear that amidst the billions of dollars in bailout, insurance executives were dealing with the country’s woes by getting spa treatments, were you really surprised? Artist Bob Conge wasn’t. He began the sculpture you see here 6 months ago, long before the bailout. He cites as inspiration for the piece: “the blatant greed and unfair loan-shark type fees and interest rates charged by American banks. It is just short of theft!  With this piece I want to express the true image of the bank beneath the placid mask of business as usual. The bank takes your money and then shits on your dreams.”

Not one to shy away from touchy subjects, (see “Vaginas vs. War” post here), Bob rendered his feelings visually with a pig taking a green dump on a glass heart. The piece is a unique cast urethane custom from his original sculpture and measures 12″ long X 6″ high X 4.5″ wide with glass inset eyes, rubber baby bottle nipples and red glass heart with dump accessory.  Entitled, “BANK AMERICA (come suckle on the tit of credit),” it will be available soon from the PlaSeeBo website.
