Japan, not content with just being one of my favorite places in the world, is gearing up to combine one of my other favorite things: Star Wars. July 19th begins the Star Wars convention at Makuhari-Messe Convention Center in Chiba. The whole shebang is sponsored by Toys R Us, and will feature celebs, costumes, and insane amounts of geekery which will be made that much cooler because it’s in Japan. The tickets range in price from about $40 for a one day standard ticket, to $220 for a three day “Yoda” premium pass. And to start marketing this event, Medicom, Star Wars, and Pepsi have teamed up to create a series of 16 Star Wars Be@rbricks. Starting in July, each bottle of Pepsi Nex will have a blind bagged Be@rbrick attached. I’ve never liked Pepsi (especially a zero calorie one) but you can guarantee I’ll be buying as many as I can when I head out to Japan next week. If you’re around the Chiba area mid July and want to celebrate 30 years of light sabers, then check this event out!
