Batman Dons Urban Vinyl Uni-Formz

action figures, plastic

You know that the whole designer toy thing is getting huge when companies like Hasbro start producing (admittedly adorable) Mighty Muggs and DC Direct starts hitting us with their own take on the genre, the Uni-Formz - not to be confused with Upper Deck’s similar Marvel-based SubCasts.

Announced this week were a trio of Batman Uni-Formz in three flavors : classic blue & grey, modern black & grey, and armored. Designed by Monster5 (who is notable for previous Warner Bros. related toys, like ‘Mad Doktor’ Bugs Bunny), these guys merge a graffiti sensibility with the world’s most popular urban superhero in some kind of thematic coalescence of neatness - and best of all, the ‘armored’ variant is essentially a robot Batman. These will run about $60 each, stand 8″ tall, will be articulated at 12 points, and get released in June - which should give me just enough time to harvest enough kidneys to afford them all.
