Barack Obama x The Matrix by Mike Leavitt

action figures, clay

We at ToyCyte are big fans of the art of Mike Leavitt. Back in July in this interview, I called it that Obama would want to bring the troops home, but enlist himself in the Art Army. And Mike’s figure doesn’t disappoint. Says Mike: “The figurine suggests new and old surrealism. Obama is “The One” (from The Matrix Trilogy), a modern-day savior.” The 12-inch  figure is fully articulated with 11 moving parts. It’s made from polymer clay, leather, internal steel and styrofoam, aluminum, and enamel. No pre-manufactured parts have been used. Everything is built from scratch by M. Leavitt. The labor involved and size of the piece account for the $600 opening bid on eBay. There was a suspicious removal of Mike’s eBay listing over the past few days, but the piece is currently live and ready for bidding here.
