custom, vinyl

astro-by-phuaphrodai

Ever since Jason first posted about Phu! [here and here], I’ve been stalking…I mean, following Phu!’s blog for more news on his customs. His latest creations show why he is one of the best custom artists around. Click the thumbnails to see the full scale pictures, and visit Phu!’s blog for more. Shown on the left, Astro is his customization of this figure. I thought the slouch looked familiar, but I wouldn’t have been able to easily identify it as Billy Bronze. The details on this 3″ figure are fantastic, and that is a real light bulb attached to the back.

Aphrodai is his customization of the 8″ Fatima by Sam Flores. While the original Fatima appears feminine, Aprhrodai is straight out of a science fiction movie. I love the removable frosted visor which can be pushed up or down. The two have matching colorways that emulate a steel finish, and both customizations include the use of wire, brass rivets, and cable ties. The custom toys were made for a private vinyl collector. I think that’s my new toy collecting goal. I’m going to save my toy budget for a custom toy artist like Phu!. Who wouldn’t want this pair in their private collection?

I'm a nerd who loves music, movies, graphic novels, and of course toys. I grew up in Los Angeles, and I currently live in the non-plastic part of Orange County. I'm a sucker for anything that is little and cute: plushies, Dunnys, Smorkin' Labbits, zipper pulls. My collection is dominated by Kozik and Uglydolls, and my latest obsession is IWG/Rocket World.
