Not all blind-box series are created equal, and Artoyz Elements Alpha Series stands out among the pack for its unique platform, roster of talented artists, how each artist has used the platform and the way the company is distributing the series with both collectors and casual fans in mind. You already know that the set of 20 figures includes: SKWAK, Steph Cop, RUN, Pulco Mayo, Koralie, KOA, Grems, Flying Fortress, Jon Burgerman, ARTIZARNAL, Superdeux, NYNO, MIST, iLK, YOKAIKAI, Nathan Jurevicius, GREGOS (in 3D!) and Supakitch. Now, Artoyz has now revealed that the rare figures are…Bwana Spoons and Jean Spezial! This is a reunion of sorts for Bwana and Artoyz following his Hunt and Gather show and Big Brother Little Brother Globby set. While Bwana may need no introduction on these shores, perhaps you will recall Jean Spezial from the time they customized 180 Munnys in less than 2 weeks?

The Bwana Spoons and Jean Spezial figures will have a 1:50 ratio. If you purchase a full case of 25 figures, you are guaranteed to get one of the two rare figures. You are also guaranteed 19 out of 20 unique figures. Each case will have 5-6 duplicates, but you will get no more than two of the same figure in a case. If you buy a single figure, you will be buying blind. If you buy a case of figures, you will get one of every single figure in the series except either the Bwana or Jean Spezial figures. In lieu of that one, you will get a handful of doubles. There will never be a case that has fewer than 19 out of 20 uniques or more than 6 doubles. Regarding doubles, there will never be more than 2 of a single figure. There are four case layouts. Not that I would encourage such crazy spending, but theoretically, if you were to score all four of the different cases, you would be guaranteed both rare figures, a whole lot of extras to trade and increased chances of the two elusive chase figures that have not been revealed.

The figures will drop at the Artoyz shop on March 14th for about $9.90 USD each. That Saturday, you will find the figures all over France at:

  • ARTOYZ PARIS (Paris)
  • ARTOYZ LYON (Lyon)
  • DELKOGRAPHIK (Rennes)
  • TOYS N NOISE (Strasbourg)
  • GRAPHIK ZOO (Nancy)
  • ENTER YOUR NAME (Lille)
  • REPUBLINK (Clermont Ferrand)
  • EUREKA (OrlĂ©ans)
  • YUMIE (Bordeaux)
  • TRANSHOP (Limoges)
  • ALBUM NANTES

Overseas distribution will be by DKE. All pictures compiled via Artoyz Flickr. Just look at the colors, details, translucence and gradients? Unbelievable. Can’t wait.

I ordered a few of these, pretty pricey but well worth the money spent. Bwana’s chase is the one I’m hoping to get but any of the other elements would be awesome!
