Andrew Bell’s The Giver of War – Red Scare Edition

Fri, Nov 21, 2008

Misc, resin, vinyl

I should probably not have been watching the news before writing about the new Andrew Bell’s The Giver – The Red Scare Edition. It gives this whimsical toy a whole new very real world war torn vibe, which may actually have been the intent via this skull-faced “Giver of War” figure lovingly cradling a bomb.

The new issue of the series, the Red Scare Edition, will start to show up at select retailers such as Andrew Bell’s own Dead Zebra shop next week. There will be only three hundred made. The piece is the same size as the other Givers (which is approximately 8 ¼” wide by 5 ¼” high and 6 ½” deep) and is produced by Dyzplastic. The Giver comes with a special black bomb accessory which features a sinister smile. The suggested retail price of this baby will be around $60. If you saw the Red Scare Edition live and in person you may have spied it on display at the San Diego Comic Con at the DKE and Dumbrella booths. Yeah, that was a while ago, but it is now a reality that you can finally bring home, if you dare house the Red Scare.
