Alex Pardee, who just released his Sore Throat skateboard through Upper Playground, has 8 new deck designs for ARTSPROJEKT, including: Toxic Lazyface, Geek Love and Escape Convic(tion). Alex said that he was at first hesitant to consider a print-on-demand project, but “when Andy [Howell] and I met up I actually got to see first-hand this insane technology and the quality of the final printed deck, and I was blown away. It seriously was like looking at a Giclee print ON A SKATE DECK!” You can check out Alex’s dedicated board shop here. He says: “I will never simply throw an image on a board to sell it. If it doesnt look good on a board I wont do it. And all of the designs are the product of me finding the dopest looking way to present some of my favorite images.” This is really, really cool. Giclee prints on paper go for almost this much. For $79.95, you can get an Alex Pardee design on hard-rock maple wood. The only question is which one to get?
ARTSPROJEKT, a new online “interactive and culturally relevant online community for the arts, pop culture and action sports” has teamed up with print-on-demand company Zazzle to make high-tech, high-art skate decks. Zazzle’s engineering team collaborated with Andy Howell to develop an authentic product that is produced within 24 hours–a first for the industry. The skate decks are seven-ply North American maple and supplied by PS Stix. Components are sourced from Santa Cruz, Independent trucks, Krux Trucks, and Ricta Wheel Dynamics. The end result is a highly technical, high quality, high art. Decks are available starting at $79.95 in all-terrain competition, mini, old school wide, and Cali 70’s flashback sizes and shapes. Complete skateboards go for around $190.
